🗡️Paul Atreides From The Dune Novel Series By Frank Herbert🏜️

Daily writing prompt
Write about your first crush.

Hi, everyone!

Answering today’s question, let it be Paul Atreides from Dune. Not Timothée Chalamet, but the book character from Dune novel series by Frank Herbert, which I read for the first time when I was in my teens.

No doubt, he was utterly compelling to me. I’m easily attracted to charismatic leaders, and he was also very intelligent, decisive, shrouded in mystery, noble, an exceptional warrior and politician, and his spiritual aspect and gifts were really something captivating… And he was a pale brunet, which I find aesthetically pleasing.

Summing up, he was everything I found attractive back in those days.

So, you got it – Paul Atreides was a book character that agitated my romantic imagination when I was a teen (There was also the Phantom of the Opera, but let’s leave that for the next post).

Never cared if he was a positive character or not… You can be deeply moved by a false messiah 🥰

“Tropic of Cancer” by Henry Miller and my reflections

Sometimes it just happens that the author is highly recommended by people or the pages you trust, and these praises are even comparing this author to one of your favorites. “Sounds nice!” and with great interest and overwhelming wish to dive into the maybe not beautiful, but definitely thrilling world… But what you get is actually the liquid garbage smeared all over your vision of reality – just my honest opinion.
The main character (the book is autobiographical) is sociopathic. He sits in France, doesn’t earn much, he uses women (likes to call them with vulgar expressions) – married, unmarried, ones in serious trouble or distress. He steals money, betrays his friends and manipulates them in their life decisions, and despite the fact that sometimes he describes his friends and acquaintances as much worse people than him, they are not. They have empathy.

Actually by reading about the main character and his thoughts and feelings I understood that I have a lot of empathy in my heart, and ethical code as well. It was also interesting to analyze myself why and how it happens that I despise the main character so much? Is it me?

September reading (five books monthly)

Autumn is a time to study, to slow down, to reflect on something, to cough loudly, to embrace the sadness and the beauty of the season, to listen to the wail of the windy, mesmerizing patter of rain and… To read 🙂 By the way, I personally was spending last week just as descibed. I also wrapped myself in blanket, hugged my cat and lit the candles 😀 Also there was a great reading “revolution” in my life… But you will find the details at the end of this post.
I also decided to write a little bit on several books, because my first review written in this blog was somewhat looong and complicated. I like complicated things 😉 But no one except me does 😀
